Est. 2017 PGY 1–3 Chicago, IL

The Program

Built for physicians who want to do more than treat.

Rush Emergency Medicine trains physicians who are technically excellent and genuinely curious — about systems, about equity, about what makes a patient encounter meaningful.

Located inside Rush University Medical Center — one of the nation's top-ranked hospitals — residents rotate through a diverse network of clinical sites.

  • PGY-1 — Foundation

Core emergency medicine rotations, procedural fundamentals, and introductory simulation curriculum. Build the foundation you'll carry for thirty years.

  • PGY-2 — Breadth

Critical care, pediatrics, trauma, and subspecialty rotations. Expand clinical range across Rush's network of five sites.

  • PGY-3 — Mastery

Senior leadership in the department, scholarly project completion, advanced procedures, and subspecialty electives shaped around your career goals.

Why Rush

What sets us apart.

Rush EM is not a factory. It is a deliberate training environment where every element — faculty, curriculum, culture — is built around the resident.

Teaching

Faculty-Led Education

Every shift, every simulation, every didactic is designed and led by faculty who chose academics because they believe in the mission — not as a side obligation to clinical volume.
